U.S. Corn Declines 3% to 53% GD/EX, Soy Declines 5% to 53%

Corn - The condition of the 2023 U.S. corn declined 3% last week to 53% rated good/excellent. Six states indicated that the corn condition improved last week, 11 states indicated that the corn condition declined, and 1 was unchanged. Most of the improvements were found in the eastern and northern areas while most of the declines were found in the central and western areas. The top five rated corn states are: Pennsylvania, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Colorado. The five lowest rated corn states are: Missouri, Kansas, Minnesota, South Dakota, and a tie between Nebraska and Texas.
The 2023 U.S. corn is 93% dough compared to 91 last year and 92% average. The corn is 67% dented compared to 61% last year and 65% average. The corn is 18% mature compared to 14% last year and 16% average.
Soybeans - The condition of the 2023 U.S. soybeans declined 5% last week to 53% rated good/excellent. Four states indicated that the soybean condition improved last week and 14 states indicated that the soybean condition declined. Most of the improvements were found in the eastern areas while most of the declines were found across the Corn Belt. The top five rated soybean states are: Tennessee, Ohio, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Indiana. The five lowest rated soybean states are: Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, and North Dakota.
The 2023 U.S. soybeans are 95% setting pods compared to 94% last year and 94% average. The soybeans are 16% dropping leaves compared to 9% last year and 13% average.
Soil Moisture - The nation's topsoil moisture declined last week with 2 states indicating improved soil moisture while 16 states indicated lower soil moisture. The only improvements were found in North Carolina and North Dakota while the declines were found across the Midwest. The five states with the best soil moisture are: Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, and Kentucky. The five states with the lowest soil moisture are: Louisiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, and Mississippi.
