The 2024 U.S. corn yields las left unchanged thus week at 183.5 bu/ac and I have a neutral bias going forward. The corn estimate was left unchanged at 15.17 billion bushels.

Weather continued to be beneficial last week for the corn as it proceeds through grain filling. The forecast is calling for cool and dry weather this week with warmer and dryer weather during the 6-10 day period. Rainfall over the weekend favored the central and eastern Midwest, but soil moisture will decline this week and probably next week as well. The area to watch going forward will be the western, southwestern, and central Corn Belt.

The Pro Farmer Crop Tour will be checking the yields across the Corn Belt this week so it will be interesting to see if they confirm the record corn yield estimate from the USDA,

The 2024 U.S. corn yield was left unchanged this week at 183.5 bu/ac with a neutral bias going forward. The cool weather this week will be beneficial for grain filling, but the warmer and dryer weather in the 6-10 day period is a little worrisome for some of the later developing corn. If the forecast verifies, it will probably keep the corn yield from moving higher. I do not envision the corn yield declining unless the warmer and dryer weather extends into early September.

Corn is 97% silking compared to 98% last year and 98% average with 74% dough compared to 74% last year and 71% average. The corn is 30% dented compared to 30% last year and 26% average and 5% mature compared to 3% last year and 3% average.
