On Thursday, Conab issued their Agriculture and Livestock Perspective for 2025/26 with preliminary estimates for soybean and corn production in Brazil for the 2025/26 growing season. Conab estimates that Brazil will plant 49.08 million hectares of soybeans (121.2 million acres), which is up 3.7% compared to last year. Soybean production in 2025/26 is estimated at 177.6 million tons, or up 3.6% compared to last year. Soybean yields in 2025/26 are expected to be basically unchanged compared to 2024/25. Barring any weather concerns, Brazilian soybean production should set a new record in 2025/26.

For corn, Conab is estimating that Brazil will plant 22.63 million hectares in 2025/26 (55.8 million acres), which is up 3.5% compared to last year. Brazil's 2025/26 corn production is estimated at 138.2 million tons, down 1% from last year. The reason for the decline is the expectation that corn yields in 2025/26 will be lower than the record yields set in 2024/25.

Soybean usage for animal feed and biofuels both domestically and international is expected to increase in 2025/26. Corn demand for domestic ethanol production is expected to increase as well as corn exports due to trade barriers caused by U.S. tariffs.
