Argentina Soybean Estimate Lowered 1.0 mt to 48.0 Million
Author: Michael Cordonnier/Soybean & Corn Advisor, Inc.
In Argentina, rain was very limited last week, with just a few isolated showers in western La Pampa. Rain increased across southwestern areas over the weekend, and more rain is expected this week in western Cordoba, La Pampa, and southwestern Buenos Aires. However, continued drier weather in central and eastern areas will increase dryness and crop stress.
Soybeans in Argentina were 96.2% planted as of late last week. One area left to plant is far northern Argentina where the soybeans are 75-80% planted. Wet weather in far northern Argentina continues to delay planting. In the core production areas, 15% of the early planted soybeans are entering their critical reproductive phase. Infestations of red spider mites are being reported in the dryer areas and farmers are advised to monitor their fields and take appropriate action if necessary.

Soybeans in Argentina were rated 13% poor, 34% fair, and 53% good/excellent as of late last week. The good/excellent percentage is down 8% from the prior week. Soil moisture for soybeans is rated 32% short and 67% favorable/optimum. The favorable/optimum percentage is down 6% from the prior week. Below is the soybean rating in Argentina for January 21, 2026 from the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange.
