2026 U.S. Corn Rated 67% Gd/Ex, Soybeans 64% Gd/Ex

Corn - The condition of the 2026 U.S. corn was unchanged last week at 67% rated good/excellent, Ten sates indicated that the corn condition improved last week, and 8 states indicated that the corn condition declined last week. Most of the improvements were found in the central areas, while most of the declines were found in the western areas. The top five rated corn states are: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Tennessee. The five lowest rated corn states are: North Carolina, Colorado, Texas, Ohio, and Illinois.
Corn is 16% silking compared to 17% last year and 14% average. Corn is 3% in dough compared to 3% last year and 2% average.
Soybeans - The condition of the 2026 U.S. soybean crop declined 1% last week to 64% rated good/excellent. Nine states indicated that the soybean condition improved last week, 7 states indicated that the soybean condition declined last week, and 2 were unchanged. Most of the improvements were found in the central areas while most of the declines were found in the southern areas. The top five rated soybean states are: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Tennessee, and Mississippi. The five lowest rated soybean states are: North Carolina, Ohio, North Dakota, Illinois, and Missouri.
Soybeans are 34% blooming compared to 30% last year and 28% average and soybeans are 9% setting pods compared to 7% last year and 6% average.
Soil Moisture - The nation's topsoil moisture declined last week with 6 states indicating improved soil moisture and 12 states indicating lower soil moisture. Most of the improvements were found in the central areas while most of the declines were found in the southern areas. The five states with the highest soil moisture are: Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The five states with the lowest soil moisture are: North Carolina, Nebraska, South Dakota, Ohio, and Arkansas.
The heaviest rainfall last week occurred in northern and central Iowa, southern Wisconsin, northern Illinois, northern Indiana, and southwestern Michigan. Dryness is still lingering in eastern Nebraska, western Minnesota, South Dakota, and southern North Dakota. Rainfall this week should favor the far northern and southeastern Corn Belt with the 6-10 day forecast favoring hotter and dryer conditions. July is the critical month for corn pollination and soybean flowering and setting pods.
