2020/21 Brazil Corn Estimate Unchanged at 84.0 Million Tons.

The 2020/21 Brazilian corn estimate was left unchanged this week at 84.0 million tons, and I have neutral to lower bias going forward.
The safrinha corn is 79% harvested compared to 82% last year according to AgRural. This represents an advance of 9% for the week. The harvest is complete in Mato Grosso, but still lagging in Parana and Mato Grosso do Sul.
Reports out of southern Brazil are that the safrinha corn yields are getting worse as the harvest progresses and there are more concerns about poor quality seed.
2021/22 Full-Season Corn is 4.1% Planted in Brazil
Farmers in far southern Brazil have planted 4.1% of their 2021/22 full-season corn compared to 5.7% last year according to AgRural. Most of the corn has been planted in northwestern Rio Grande do Sul and western Santa Catarina. Farmers are cautious about planting too much corn since there is still a possibility of frost. Last year, farmers had to replant some of their corn due to frost and poor germination.
