The 2021 U.S. soybean yield estimate now 50.3 bu/ac, and I have a neutral bias going forward.
Across the central Corn Belt, the first half of September has been generally dry with warm temperatures, which is not the best way to finish the soybean crop. These conditions could push some of the soybeans to mature quicker than what is best for optimum yields. There have been some showers across the far northwestern Corn Belt, but most of the soybeans are too far along for any significant yield improvement.
I am not quite as optimistic as the USDA, and I would not be surprised if the soybean yield declines slightly going forward. Therefore, I am estimating the soybean yield at 50.3 bu/ac, and I left the maximum and minimum unchanged at 51.0 bu/ac and 47.0 bu/ac, respectively.
The soybean condition rating was unchanged last week at 57% rated good to excellent. The soybeans are 38% dropping leaves compared to 35% last year and 29% average
