Rainfall was fairly widespread across Argentina over the weekend with the heaviest amounts of 1-2 inches. These rains will help the recently planted crops, but dry weather is expected across Argentina for the next 10 days. The weather in Argentina has been good enough to maintain adequate soil moisture at least for now, but the forecast continues to be worrisome.

It is still early in the growing season, so you cannot say very much about the soybean yield potential, but the forecast for dryer-than-normal weather for November-December-January certainly needs to be watched closely.

The 2021/22 Argentina soybeans were 18.8% planted as of late last week compared to 19.7% last year and 21.8% average. This represents an advance of 11.7% for the week. The soybeans were 35-40% planted in the core production areas, 5-25% planted in southern Argentina and less than 5% planted in far northern Argentina. The first crop soybeans were 28.9% planted compared to 30.8% average.
