2023/24 Argentina Soybeans 63.7% Harvested

Soybeans in Argentina were 63.7% harvested as of late last week. This represents an advance of 15.8% for the week. In the core production areas, the soybeans are 80-85% harvested with 30-50% harvested in southern Argentina and 35% harvested in far northern Argentina. The early planted soybeans are 71% harvested and the later planted soybeans are 43% harvested.

The average soybean yield thus far is 3,170 kg/ha (47.2 bu/ac), which is down 0.6 bu/ac from the prior week. Yields range from a high of 3,860 kg/ha (57.5 bu/ac) in the northern core region to a low of 1,510 kg/ha (22.4 bu/ac) in far northern Argentina.

The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange lowered their soybean estimate last week 0.5 million tons to 50.5 million citing lower yields in northern Argentina due to dry weather during March. The USDA is estimating the crop at 50.0 million tons.

The soybeans were rated 28% poor/very poor, 48% fair, and 24% good/excellent as of late last week. The good/excellent percentage was down 3% from the prior week. The soil moisture for the soybeans was rated 20% short/very short, 79% favorable/optimum, and 1% saturated. The favorable/optimum percentage was down 5% from the prior week.
